Distance: Sex Work in the Pandemic

Our first feature film, Distance: Sex Work in the Pandemic (2022) is a documentary created by a collective of sex workers determined to share our stories of resilience and hope during the unique challenges we faced during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

Amidst an environment where our safety and access to public resources are continually stripped away by an indifferent government, the COVID-19 pandemic only intensified the hardships faced by our already marginalized community. However, through this film, we aim to shed light on the power of unity and the unwavering spirit that propels us forward.

Distance features self-filmed Zoom interviews from a diverse range of sex workers across the globe. We delve into their  personal narratives while providing a narrated exploration of both historical and current events that have shaped the experiences of the sex working community.

Our mission was to challenge preconceived notions influenced by stigma and protectionism. By sharing our stories, we hope to foster a deep sense of respect and understanding for our often underrepresented community. Furthermore, we aim to inspire viewers to join us in creating a world where sex workers can feel safe, seen, and welcome.
